Step on a line, and you'll break your spine

I don't like to be thought of as superstitious, but let's face it. I can't hide from my Filipino ways. Island people are always so superstitious and this is one trait that I must admit I get from my mother. I'm the girl who will go out of her way to do things a certain way so as not to taint the situation or the outcome of a situation. I eat noodles on my birthday, I don't leave the room if someone sneezes, and I know to expect a male visitor if I drop my fork on the floor. I wouldn't say I'm hardcore strict about these things, but I do tinker with the idea that they actually make an influence on my universe.

Just as well, I tend to heed to signs and omens. For instance, I got a fortune from a cookie the other week that was very pertinent to what was going on in my life...it indicated that things would go quite positively. However, in breaking the cookie, I tore the fortune. I think it was a sign...in fact, I know it was a sign. I know that now. Pooh.

So in honor of my pooh-ness, this weekend will be a weekend of whatever-the fuzz-ever....debauchery included. Huzzah.

Sobuling It

She's back everybody...Jill Sobule will be playing at the Largo again on Wed May 26th and Wed Jun 2nd. I can't wait. This woman is phenomenal. I've seen her twice before and can't wait to go to both upcoming shows. I'm back to my concert-going days. I don't think it's quite reaching obsession levels, but I'm still really into it.

Also really good is Mike Barnet. The man has talent. Think folk meets a little hip hop meets a little political rock...this guy is fetch. He plays every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at Room 5 on La Brea with fellow folkers Tyrone Wells and Jay Nash.

Summer is on it's way...only 33 days away...officially. I don't know what I'm counting down for...it's not like I get a summer vacation or anything. It just means there will be more days in which I'll be wishing I were outside, having fun in the sun, instead of inside, typing away under the fluorescent lighting of my cubicle. Pooh. But in light of all that, there actually is a bright side of the summer season...and that's the Hollywood Bowl. Can it get any better...sitting in the cool summer night breeze, nursing a glass of wine and listening to some of the classiest and chill music LA has to offer? I think not. This Bowl season, K.D. Lang and Rufus Wainwright will be there on Sat Jul 31st and Nickel Creek will be there Sat Sept 4th. I can't wait! It's going to be fabulous!

All this music talk is getting me super excited! Anybody who wants to join me these next few months, please do...any chance to influence your musical tastes is gladly welcomed!
