It was completely deliberate...
This morning as I approached the corner crosswalk in front of the studio on my bike, I had a near flub...I'm talking the arms flailing-lack of control-loss of balance kind of flub. But I meant for it to happen. I swear. Sure. The red hand was up so I went to stop and meant to put my feet down to hold my balance. Um, yeah...didn't quite work out that way. I wasn't completely stopped when I put my foot down. Now, the problem with that is that my feet don't really touch the ground. Instead, they nearly scratch the surface...so...you can see how this might create a problem if I'm not completely stopped. So I lost my balance, I was wobbling on my bike (which was still moving forward) and I was about 6 feet away from a man. Yikes. So what'd I do? I courageously (like how I'm a hero now?) lunged at the Sony Parking post to catch my balance and prevent my bike from moving any further. Yeah, it was quite a scene. Luckily, the man didn't see this whole debacle about to unfold on him. I was at his 5 o'clock. I quickly straightened myself out (heh) and looked around to see if anyone had noticed. It didn't seem like it, but I didn't look around too conspicuously either...I didn't want to make any eye contact with anyone around me...eye contact=guilt. I was safe. Well, I thought I was safe. Then lo and behold Marla, a gal I work with, turned the corner in her car. She was laughing and pointing, saying "I saw you!!" Damn.
So May is National Bike Month and May 16-20 is Bike-to-Work Week, with Friday, May 20th as Bike-to-Work Day. That's a lot of bike. Ha. This is exciting. As I was rehashing my bike incident with Marla, she informed me of this joyous occasion. I feel like I should do something really special to celebrate this annual event. I didn't even know it existed! Maybe next week I'll decorate my bike. I can attach a radio to my handle bar like a SCum (USC bum) or get one of those nifty flags that stick up from the back of my bike seat...oooh! It can be a Sony flag! If only our company had designated colors, then I'd spray paint my bike. Man, this could be so much fun. I can completely deck out my bike. I'm thinking wheel spinners, paint, streamers, bells...I just gotta make sure none of it interferes with me actually riding my bike. I don't want another near-accident happening in front of my co-workers again. What am I talking about? What-ever...I meant for that to happen. It was completely deliberate...
