Unnecessary Vehicles

Last night I walked out of my local Target store to find a HUGE Ford F350 Truck parked next to me. Only...it wasn't just parked, but parked diagonally across two parking spaces to accomodate its unnecessary large size. This made me grumble with anger. Who does this guy think he is? First of all, there is NO WAY that he really needed a truck this big. I'm talking the whole works...big truck, with super big wheels, lifted 10 feet up in the air (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating that part). But seriously, c'mon...it was completely unnecessary. I hate guys who take up two parking spaces...regardless of their reason. If you have an uber nice car and you take up two spaces so nobody parks next to you, you're an asshole and you deserve to have your car towed and scratched up in the process. If you have a HUGE truck or SUV and you take up two spaces because you can't fit in one, you are also an asshole and you are obviously overcompensating for your tiny dick. And in the latter case, if you do insist on taking up two spaces, you park your ass in the way back where there is plenty of space and you can take up as much of it as you want. But none of this parking in the front, taking up two spaces bullshit. That's exactly what that is...BULLSHIT.

So about a year ago, my old roommate had given me this fake ticket she had gotten from the Rainforest Action Network. It's brilliant. It's made to look like a parking ticket when in fact it is a flier telling the owner of the Ford SUV how they are contributing to the war and global warming. It was all part of a campaign against the Ford company telling them to start being more socially responsible and making low emission and fuel efficient vehicles. Well it turned out they had the "ticket" online so about a month or two ago, I printed out a stack and put them in my car...you know...just in case.

This was the most opportune time to use the Ford SUV ticket. So I reached up and tippy-toed to put the ticket on the windshield wiper. I must say...it was beautiful. I wanted someone else to see it, but there was nobody around. So I took a photo.

I wanted to take another photo, from further away, but then I noticed some Goonies coming. This 16 year-old kid was with 2 buddies around his age and 2 younger boys probably about 13 years-old. They started heading towards the truck and I quickly put away my camera phone. Then I heard, "FUCK! I got a ticket!!" Oh man...I could see that sinking feeling in him. The other boys were laughing at their friend. He just kept flinging his hands to his head and yelling, "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" It was awesome. Then he got to his truck and pulled it down, looked at it, then yelled, "FUCK! This isn't a ticket!" He com-plete-ly flipped out. And all of his friends were laughing at him. It was great. Oh the joy!!!

Ay!!!

I finally uploaded my photos from Guadalajara. I will have to post more photos and write more about it, but for now, here is the lovely family I stayed with. On the left is Celina, with her Aunt. Then there is ME and Celina's mother! They were all so sweet and so much fun! They were so welcoming of me in their home. Celina's mom is an amazing cook and made sure to accomodate my vegetarian needs. It was AWESOME!!!
